Metacognition.
For the next few weeks, My Guides have shown me that a mental purge in the collective is happening. We are being stripped of concepts, beliefs, mindsets, thought patterns and distortions that have held us back from realizations that would give us peace, clarity and momentum. I’d like to thank Uranus and Mars in Gemini for this!
Throughout the past week, personally I have seen a huge shift in my own mental space, but this actually all started about a year ago. I started thinking about my thinking - a process called Metacognition. Where you bring awareness to your cognitive process through understanding, evaluation and recognition. You’re willing to abstractly look at your own thoughts and why you’re thinking it and willing to develop a new pattern in it’s place. But it’s only been in the past week that a deep amount of clarity has come in.
What this has looked like for me is a new level of acceptance, detachment and holding space for the versions of myself that were living in survival mode, anxiety, fear, etc. Recognizing that I am able to be in a place of radical acceptance, not trying to control or force an outcome but truly being at peace with all of it. This has given me a sense of balance within, something my Libra rising self desperately craves at all times. I’ve noticed a significant decrease in anxiety. The reflection it’s allowed me to do has been deeply cathartic, I’ve realized all the suffering I’ve brought upon myself throughout my life by not letting go. The constant need to be critical of myself or towards others (I am ashamed to admit). The pressure I put on myself because I needed everything to be in harmony - isn’t that hilarious?! I was literally willing to let myself fall apart just so my environment, my relationships, etc could be at their best. The CBT Coach in me loves this.
Anyway, here are some journal prompts that I wanted to share with you all that can help you on your own journey of Metacognition.
Think of a recent or ongoing situation that has you feeling very stressed and needs resolution. Make a list of everyone who is involved and their role. What is the main theme in this situation? (i.e. Control, anxiety, frustration, disrespect, etc.)
Who is most affected by this situation? How are you being affected? What is your role in this?
If you were to pull back and look at this situation as an outsider, what advice would you give yourself? (and don’t say I don’t know!) Think about how that advice feels in your body.
Think back to a time in your childhood, teenage years or young adulthood where this theme was normalized. When did it become a part of your daily existence? How did it shape you? What habits stemmed from that early developmental influence? And who was it that created the pattern in you?
